Cooking up authentic Vietnamese recipes using ingredients found in America
My name is Sau. I’m originally from Nha Trang, Viet Nam but have been living in America for more than 30 years now. I’m a wife and mother to two—a daughter and son—and grandmother to one very adorable pup baby 🙂 This website is my little place to cook up authentic Vietnamese recipes.
This website was actually my daughter’s idea! Chloé is a photographer and was really wanting a place to display her food photography separate from her usual photographs of people and places. This website has become a nice mother/daughter project for us. I provide the recipes and she takes the photos.
Having a food website was never a plan I had. In fact, I never thought about sharing my recipes at all. Not because I am selfish or greedy, or because I didn’t think my cooking was good enough. Having a food website was honestly never a thought for me. I was content with just cooking for my family and friends.
My daytime job requires me to cook American dishes but having grown up in Viet Nam, authentic Vietnamese recipes are where my heart is at. My daughter has always pushed me to open a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. But I always tell her, “I don’t want to be a servant for the world; serving you (the family) is enough!” So now with this food website, I can still share my authentic Vietnamese recipes without having to become a “servant” HAHA.
I hope you enjoy my authentic Vietnamese recipes—please let me know if you make something!
